You are invited to spend an evening with an extraordinary woman. Julie Hiatt Steele is a woman of uncommon courage. For more than two years, Ken Starr and his staff pursued, badgered, harassed and tried this single mother because she refused to lie in court to help Starr impeach Bill Clinton. The jury refused to convict Ms. Steele. Finally, Ken Starr had to give up his harassment of the only person to be indicted in the Monica Lewinsky portion of the impeachment investigation. She was a registered Republican who did not vote for Bill Clinton and has never even spoken with anyone in the White House. Her motive was not political, it was to do the right thing.

Julie's story is very fascinating, it is also very frightening. As she says, "If this could happen to me, it could happen to anyone." In light of that, Julie is eager to share her experiences to try to make sure that it does not happen to anyone again. She wants to make people aware of how easily their rights and privacy can be violated, and how simple it is for a ruthless prosecutor to pursue innocent citizens and harass their relatives, neighbors and friends even though they have never done anything illegal.

Julie appeared on nationwide TV, Rivera Live on July 9, 1999. Now she is coming to Lancaster. A reception will be held for her on Friday, August 27th, from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. If you happen to be close to the central PA area and would like to attend, email me and I will send you the specifics.

Julie has suffered great emotional, mental and financial pain from this experience. She lost her job and is now being forced to sell her house just to support herself and her eight year old son Adam. For these reasons, some of us who admire her courage and perseverance are asking you to offer your support also. This is your chance to show your disdain for Ken Starr's investigation and totally obnoxious methods by helping one of his intended victims to successfully survive.
